Chartered Institute of Quality and Lean Six Sigma’s History

Chartered Institute of Quality and Lean Six Sigma™ was founded by a small group of professionals with the objective of developing and promoting the profession of Quality Management eg: Lean, Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma systematic approach. The Institute was subsequently is a product of Postgraduate College of Lean Six Sigma, incorporated by Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under the Companies and Allied Matters Act of 1990 as a legal entity.

Chartered Institute of Quality and Lean Six Sigma™ is a professional body and is affiliated to the Offices of International Six Sigma Institute™, Wollerau, Switzerland and Postgraduate College of Lean Six Sigma. The Institute is the most recognized professional body in Nigeria, West Africa when it comes to trend-setting in Quality Management profession.

Objectives of the Institute

  1. To improve the quality and effectiveness of lean six sigma professionals and to enhance the value added from the profession; by developing certifications and standards
  2. To stimulate and assist in the establishment and development of lean six sigma educational centers worldwide in accordance with global standards;
  3. To create a global network for lean six sigma practitioners and organizations promoting affordable and consistent six sigma system and advocating for lean profession;
  4. To support or represent lean six sigma practitioners around the world;
  5. To commission or create, collect and disseminate research that broadens understanding of lean six sigma and development issues;
  6. Provide professional certifications in accordance with global standards such as Chartered Six Sigma Green Belt, Chartered Six Sigma Black Belt, Chartered Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Chartered Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Chartered Six Sigma White Belt, Chartered Six Sigma Consultant.
  7. Assist in facilitating self-financing international study trips, organise self-financing international conferences,
  8. Encourage exchange of research reports by members, promote the voluntary exchange of academics and professional publications (such as journals, periodicals, bibliographies, etc);
  9. Assist graduates with the arrangement of seminars and conferences, involving helping finding speakers, publicity, etc;
  10. Encourage the development of codes of ethics for graduates.
